Our Commitment to Nonprofit Organizations

From the start, nonprofit organizations have been an integral part of our journey to bring energy management services to organizations of all sizes. We have helped many to meet their sustainability and financial goals:

  • over 100 houses of worship
  • over 30 Ohio History Connection buildings
  • Rural Action
  • local food banks

Energy Assessment Training

Our energy assessment training for nonprofit organizations is designed to empower teams with the knowledge and tools to identify energy inefficiencies and implement effective energy management strategies. Participants will learn how to benchmark energy use, analyze energy usage patterns, uncover hidden savings opportunities, and implement practical upgrades that make a measurable difference. This program benefits organizations of all sizes by equipping them with the skills needed to lower operational expenses, freeing up valuable resources to support your mission, expand programs, and make a positive impact on the community.

Getting Started

No Cost & Low Cost Actions to Save Energy

Lighting

  • Upgrade fluorescent and incandescent to LEDs.
  • Use occupancy sensors or add signage to turn off lights.

  • When it is time to replace equipment, make sure it is the “right size” for your building because more is not always better.

Building Envelope (roof, walls, windows, doors)

  • Replace failed weatherstripping.
  • Check for leaking energy. Is water or air getting in the building?

Temperature Controls

  • Install a smart/programmable thermostat.
  • Turn thermostat up 2 degrees in the summer and down 2 degrees in the winter.

Renewable Energy

Solar tax credits are available to nonprofit organizations (yes, even though they do not pay taxes).

Two options are available:

  1. direct pay as a refundable tax payment OR
  2. transfer of credits through a power purchase agreement
